Manaslu Circuit Trek is exceptional during autumn, from September to November, and spring, from March to May. These periods offer stable weather and clear skies, crucial for safe trail conditions. The trek features the high-altitude Larkya La Pass at 5,160 metres, which all trekkers must cross. When considering timing, October and April stand out as the optimal months for this Himalayan adventure.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek circles Mount Manaslu, towering at 8,163 meters. It is among the highest peaks on Earth. The trek winds through a remote and wild district in Nepal. Unlike Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit routes, Manaslu offers genuine wilderness and basic, scattered amenities. Unpredictable weather adds to the route's difficulty.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek has a major challenge: the high Larkya La Pass. Conditions can be harsh with snow, ice, and wind. The weather there changes throughout the year. It is important to know the seasonal weather before planning your trek. The trek can be dangerous if you go at the wrong time, so careful planning is needed to stay safe.
Autumn is the prime time for the Manaslu Circuit Trek, starting in September. After the monsoon rains end, the weather clears, trails dry, and mountains become visible. October is the best month for this trek.
The temperature is between 10°C and 20°C at altitudes. At camps like Samdo, it is around 0°C to 10°C. The nights get very cold above 4,000 meters. You can manage with proper gear. The skies are blue. You can see Mount Manaslu clearly. September is also good. The landscape is green. Waterfalls are flowing. The circuit feels lively. There are more people than in October. November gets colder. There is some snow on the high passes. The weather is clear, and the views of the mountains are great.
Early November is good. Late November gets harder, especially at high altitudes. All teahouses and lodges are open in autumn. You can easily find guides and porters. The trail is in condition. The only problem is that October is very busy. So book your accommodation in advance if you are trekking in October.
The teahouses at Samagaon, Samdo, and the Larkya La crossing camp fill up quickly.
Spring is a time for the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Many people who love nature and taking pictures prefer this season. As the snow melts in March, the valleys and forests start to look lively after the cold winter in the Himalayas.
The best part of trekking in the spring on the Manaslu Circuit is seeing the rhododendron flowers bloom.
From March to April, the forests around Jagat, Deng, and Namrung are filled with beautiful pink and red flowers.
The snow-capped peaks and clear blue skies make it perfect for taking pictures in Nepal. April is a month in the spring. The temperature in the valleys is between 10°C and 18°C during the day. The higher places are cooler but still easy to walk in. You can see the mountains in the morning, and the pass is more accessible as the snow melts. There are people on the trail. Not as many as in October, and the teahouses are open. March is a bit harder for trekking. There might still be a lot of snow on Larkya La, so you might need shoes to cross safely.
But if you prepare well, March can be a time to trek. There are hardly any people on the trail, and it feels like you are really in the wilderness. May is the end of the spring season. The lower valleys get warm and humid as the monsoon season approaches, and clouds start to form in the afternoon.
The first week or two of May is still good for trekking. By late May, the weather becomes unpredictable, and there might be early monsoon showers.
The monsoon season is not a time for the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Heavy rain comes in from the Bay of Bengal by June. Lasts until August. This makes trekking very difficult.
Trails get slippery and dangerous on steep parts around Soti Khola. Rivers get bigger quickly after storms, making it hard to cross them. Landslides can happen anytime. Parts of the trail can be blocked or washed away. Thick clouds cover the mountains for days, so you can't see Manaslu and the other peaks.
Leeches come out in the forested areas, which can be annoying. The monsoon season has something special to offer for those who are willing to take on the challenges. The landscape is very green and beautiful. Every hillside is green, and waterfalls are strong. The rivers are powerful.
The trail is almost empty, so you can have a lot of time. Some experienced trekkers do the Manaslu Circuit in these months. Find it a memorable experience.
If you are a first-time trekker or don't have experience, in wet conditions, it's best to avoid June through August. The monsoon season is not recommended for trekkers. Manaslu Circuit Trek is better done in the season. The challenges of the monsoon season can be difficult to handle. Manaslu Circuit Trek requires planning.

Winter is the time on the Manaslu Circuit. This is because the high passes get a lot of snow, it gets very cold, and the whole area becomes very hard to travel through, even for people who are very good at climbing mountains.
The months of January and February are the worst. At night, it can get as cold as -20°C or even colder in the camps that are above 4,000 metres. The Larkya La Pass is often completely blocked by snow and ice. A lot of teahouses are closed during this time. There are not many places to get food or shelter. If you try to cross the pass without the gear and experience it can be very dangerous.
December is the time to go in the winter. At the beginning of December, the sky is still pretty clear. Winter is actually a time to see the mountains clearly. If you are a trekker with the right equipment, you can still do the Manaslu Circuit. The Manaslu Circuit is very quiet. It can feel very lonely.
You can still walk on the parts of the Manaslu Circuit that are below 3,000 metres during the winter if you are prepared. Some people like to explore the Budhi Gandaki valley during this time. They do not try to do the whole Manaslu Circuit.
Both seasons are really good. It is all about what you like. If you want the mountains to be really clear and the weather to be stable, then autumn is the time to go. This is especially true if you want to cross Larkya La. October is a time to trek in Nepal; the conditions are almost perfect.
If you like taking pictures of flowers and trees when they're in bloom, then spring is the season for you. The trail is also less crowded in the spring. The mountains look just as beautiful. If you can try to go in April, it is a good time to trek.
January is a tough time. The Larkya La pass is probably impassable because of the cold. I would not recommend it to anyone.
February is also very difficult. It is much the same as January. There is a risk of problems when you are at a high altitude.
March is a time to go. The trails are starting to open up. The rhododendrons are beginning to bloom. There is still some snow on the Larkya La pass.
April is a time. It is one of the two months of the year to visit. The rhododendrons are in bloom. The skies are clear. The conditions are really great.
May is excellent at the start of the month. It gets worse by the end. You can see some views, but the clouds start to build up before the monsoon.
June is a month to avoid. The monsoon. The risk of landslides goes up really sharply.
July is a month to avoid, too. It is the peak of the monsoon season. The trails are really dangerous. The views are blocked.
August is also a month to avoid. The monsoon is still going on. It is not a good idea for most trekkers.
September is a good time. The monsoon is going away. The landscape is a fresh green color. The skies are getting better.
October is the month of the year. It is the peak season. The skies are crystal clear. The conditions are perfect.
November is a time. The nights are cold. The skies are really clear. It is a little less crowded than in October.
December is tough. It is possible to visit early in the month if you are an experienced trekker. It is very cold.
Permits are needed all year round to visit the Manaslu region. You have to get the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit and the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit. Get these permits through a trekking agency in Nepal before you go there. You cannot trek alone in this area.
Get used to the altitude. The usual plan for trekking is 14 to 18 days. This allows your body to get used to the high altitude. Do not rush this process, no matter how good the weather is. When you are above 4,000 metres for days, you have to be careful.
Pack the gear for the Larkya La pass. During the peak season, you should carry special spikes for your shoes, a good warm jacket, windproof clothes, and strong waterproof boots. The walk to Larkya La starts early in the morning, and the weather can change quickly at high altitude.
Book your room in advance if you are going in October. The tea houses in Samagaon, Samdo, and the Dharmasala camp are fully booked during the peak season in October. Reserve your room ahead of time so you do not have to sleep at a high altitude.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is really great in October. This is when the skies are the clearest, and everything is pretty safe. You can go in April. This is a time too, because the Manaslu Circuit Trek is beautiful with all the rhododendron flowers out, and the mountains look amazing.
Both October and April are times for the Manaslu Circuit Trek. The trails are safe. The teahouses are open. You can see some beautiful things on the Manaslu Circuit Trek. It is one of the treks in Nepal.
So, try to plan your trip to the Manaslu Circuit Trek in October or April. If you do this, you will get to see everything that the Manaslu Circuit Trek has to offer.
